Timothy Perry Burchett
Timothy Perry Burchett, 68, of Washington, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013, in Washington Hospital.
He was born July 18, 1944, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late Tom and Garnet Craig Burchett.
Mr. Burchett was a graduate of McGuffey High School and attended Slippery Rock University.
For 30 years, he was employed as an ironworker through Local 549 in Wheeling, W.Va.
He was a strong supporter of girls’ sports teams in the area. He coached girls’ youth softball, the Landmark team and also coached women’s softball, Kelley Mike’s team.
Mr. Burchett was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from July 9, 1963, until his honorable discharge July 8, 1966, with a rank of specialist, fifth class. He was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
Mr. Burchett was a member of Church of the Covenant, American Legion Hunt-Kennedy Post 639 in Claysville and Washington Elks.
His family will remember him as a loving father and grandfather.
On July 8, 1972, he married Sharon Beck, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Courtney (Christopher) Smith of Pittsburgh and Amanda Burchett of Washington; two brothers, Leland R. Burchett of East Liverpool, Ohio, and James F. Burchett of Washington; and four grandchildren, Julian Burchett, Ella Smith, Adele Smith and Lydia Smith.
Deceased is his twin brother, Thomas Burchett.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at noon Monday, January 7. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Hunt-Kennedy Post 639.
