Virginia Mae West

Virginia Mae West passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012, in Los Robles Hospital, Thousand Oaks, Calif., with her family nearby.

She was born November 24, 1924, in Washington.

Mrs. West graduated from Washington High School, where she was in the May Queen’s Court.

She spent her working years as a bank teller in Pennsylvania and California.

Mrs. West was a truly lovely soul, looked upon by her family and those who knew her as a gentle pillar of strength with always a kind and wise word to offer. She had an outlook and appearance of grace and beauty her entire 88 years. She never failed to step out of the house without a perfectly coordinated outfit and accessories. Her avid love of shopping was second only to the love she had for her family to whom she is known as “Gigi.”

She will be profoundly missed by her family.

Surviving are her adoring husband of 50 years, Michael West; loving family, a daughter, Judith Blum and husband Bill; a stepdaughter, Cindy West; a brother, Kenneth Jones; a brother-in-law, Donald; sisters-in-law Marilyn and Peggy; granddaughters Lisa, Pam and husband Kevin and Trisha; great-grandchildren Michael, Connor, Jack, Megan and Dan; cousins Jean, who was like a sister to her, Terri, Cherlyn, Bobby and their respective families; as well as her extended family, Ron, Shari, Mike, William and Thomas.

Her celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Pierce Brothers Memorial Park, 5600 Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village, Calif. The chapel will be open to pay respects at 1:30 p.m. with reception on premises following the service. Donations may be made to Breast Cancer Foundation.
