Gerald M. “Tubby” Carter, 72, of Canonsburg, died Thursday, January 3, 2013, in McMurray Hills Manor.

Mr. Carter was born September 24, 1940, in Finleyville, a son of Walter and Thelma McClure Carter.

He had worked as an ironworker for Fort Pitt Bridge Works, Canonsburg.

Mr. Carter loved Westerns, collecting die-cast cars, gardening and spending time with his family.

On February 27, 1964, he married Rose Marie Fincham, who died April 12, 2009.

Surviving are a daughter, Melissa Gaughan (John) of McDonald; two grandchildren, John Christopher and Tiffanie Gaughan; three brothers, Gene Carter (Pearl) and Larry Carter (Gerry), both of McDonald, and Donald Carter (Carolyn) of Cecil; and three sisters, Dorothy Carothers (Rich) of McDonald, Mary Lou Garies of Prosperity and Patricia Guta of Stockbridge, Ga.

Deceased are a son, Jerry Carter; a daughter, Tracy Carter; two brothers, Walter Carter Jr. and Milton “Bud” Carter; and three sisters, Sandra Kolarosky, Thelma Zimmerman and Lorena Brigich.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 5, with the Rev. Donald C. Austin officiating.
