Jean Risher McCay
Jean Risher McCay, 85, of Pleasant Hills, born and raised in East Brady, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013.
She was the beloved wife of the late Willis S. McCay for 44 years; loving mother of Mary Ann Burdelski (Richard) and Joseph (Denise) and Daniel McCay (Jen); and proud grandmother of Alexander, Duncan, Sarah, Adam, Nathan and Grace.
She worked as a chemist for Westinghouse and was proud to be a part of the development of the USS Nautilus, the first nuclear-powered submarine.
Mrs. McCay was an elder of Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church, a member of the hand bell choir for 35 years and taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star and was very active in community service, including but not limited to Meals-on-Wheels, vision screening, Easter Seals and Books for the Blind.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 7, in Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church, Pleasant Hills. Interment to follow in Pleasant View Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Smock.
