George Sadvary
George Sadvary, 85, of Charleroi, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013, in his home.
He was born January 1, 1928, in Washington, a son of the late Andrew and Mary Fedorcek Sadvary.
Mr. Sadvary was a 1946 graduate of Bentleyville High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War.
With 31 years of service, Mr. Sadvary worked for General Motors, Fischer Body Stamping Plant, McKeesport, until his retirement in 1983.
For more than 50 years, he was a member of Bentleyville American Legion Post 165, Grace United Methodist Church, Bentleyville Eagles and United Auto Workers.
Mr. Sadvary enjoyed sports, travel and polkas. He was always a cheerful person who enjoyed making people smile and loved telling children’s stories.
On January 29, 1965, he married Gladys “Kitty” Welch, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, JoAnna Green (Harry) of Pinellas Park, Fla., Deborah Pulaski of Belle Vernon and Karen Stith (Bill) of Streator, Ill.; son, Daniel Shrader of Charleroi; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, John Sadvary (Emma) of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Mary Check of Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are three brothers, Andrew Jr., Chuck and Steve Sadvary; and two sisters, Margaret Jones and Ann Walla.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 7, with the Rev. Kenneth S. Custer officiating. Interment will be in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. Full military rites will be accorded graveside by Bentleyville American Legion Post 165. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 420 California Drive, Lover, PA 15022.
