Helen M. Micik

Helen M. Micik, 89, of Canonsburg, died Friday, January 4, 2013, in her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born November 2, 1923, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Stephen and Emma Karpy Toth.

Mrs. Micik was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Canonsburg.

She loved working in her yard and garden and caring for her home and family.

Mrs. Micik loved to work and was employed most recently as a housekeeper at Washington Hospital.

On October 12, 1947, in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, she married George Nicholas Micik, who died November 10, 1996.

Surviving are a daughter, Georgette Marie Insana of Canonsburg; a son, George Micik of Washington; two sisters, Margaret Gramacki of Canonsburg and Barbara Bodvake of East Northport, N.Y.; five grandchildren, George Micik Jr., Helen Marie Weight, Joshua Strike, Christopher Insana and Brandon Insana; two great-grandchildren, Vincent Weight and Meloney Micik; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are three sisters, Mary, Katherine and Agnes, and six brothers, Frank, Stephen, Bob, James, Albert and Edward.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 194 East College Street, Canonsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, in St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
