John R. Day
John R. Day, 60, of Pittsburgh, died Friday, January 4, 2013, in Southwestern Veterans Center, Pittsburgh.
He was born January 30, 1952, in Salem, Ohio, a son of the late Dale and Catherine Buck Day.
Mr. Day was a 1971 graduate of West Allegheny High School.
From 1969 to 1971, he served with the U.S. Army. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
He was previously employed as a landscaper.
Mr. Day was a devout Christian who knew Jesus Christ as his Savior.
Surviving are two daughters, Tara Day (John) of Knoxville, Tenn., and Phadra Weathers (Chris) of Columbus, Miss.; a granddaughter, Savannah Weathers; two sisters, Denise Colvin (Rich) of Reading and Michelle Davis of Lancaster; three brothers, Bill Day (Janet) of Fredericktown, David Day (Tina) of Lititz and Dan Day (Bea) of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, January 7, in Christian Assembly of God Church, 100 Meadow Drive, Bentleyville, with the Rev. Rich Colvin officiating.
