John Vincent Csako Chico
John Vincent Csako Chico, 85, of Charleroi, died Friday, January 4, 2013.
He was born June 26, 1927. He made his home in Charleroi and Bentleyville, where he raised his family and lived most of his adult life.
Mr. Chico served in the Korean War and was employed as a glass worker at Corning Glass in Charleroi for more than 40 years.
He was a member of the former St. Jerome, now Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, where he was a choir member.
Sketching, reading, gardening, Pittsburgh sports and daily prayer were among his many interests.
Left to cherish many memories are children Daniel, Janet, Timothy (wife Pam), Susan and Michael (wife Kathleen) and their families, including his many grandchildren, Lawrence, Samantha, Joshua, Christopher, Amanda, Michael, Brandon and Mariah.
Also surviving are family and friends Paulette and Carol, who kept him company and welcomed him into their heart and lives.
Mr. Chico was blessed, but grieved the heartfelt loss of his parents, the late John and Barbara Csako Chico; wife Kathryn Delores Kahr Chico; and daughter Kathleen Susan Chico.
Mt. Macrina Manor personnel and many compassionate and loyal friends and caregivers cared for Mr. Chico through the years. They made it possible for him to live in comfort, laughter and friendship. His family is truly grateful that “Daddy” was able to live his final, albiet sometimes stubborn, years on his own terms.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Carl J. Spallino Funeral Home, 819 Fallowfield Avenue, Charleroi, where a Catholic blessing will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 7.
