Raymond Haught
Raymond Haught, 89, of South Strabane Township, died unexpectedly early Friday morning, January 4, 2013, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born March 19, 1923, in Meadow Lands, a son of Albert and Katherine Bowers Haught.
Mr. Haught attended the former Meadow Lands and Manifold schools.
He was a member and former head trustee of New Hope Church of the Nazarene, Washington.
Mr. Haught enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and served with the 410th Infantry of the 103rd Division in the European Theater of Operations. He was wounded while in France.
He was a retired construction worker with ABEX Corp.
Mr. Haught especially enjoyed his cats and feeding all kinds of wildlife.
On May 19, 1951, in Houston, he was married to Audrey E. Williams, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Patti Barber of Smithmill, Debbie Barr of Washington and Albert (Sandy) Haught of Avella; five grandchildren, Tracy (Bill Kelley) Heirendt, Bill (Heidi) Smith, Chris (Tifany) Haught, Rick (Maria) Eakin and Jami Barr; and five great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Kyle Heirendt, William (Mekenna) Kelley, Derek and Brooklynne Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are four brothers, Earl, William, Clyde and Walter Haught; and three sisters, Ruth Russell, Grace Rathbone and Edna Collar.
Friends will be received from noon to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Hummell & Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, funeral director. Additional visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Monday, January 7, in New Hope Church of the Nazarene, 205 Hart Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. James York officiating.
