George A. Hanna Jr.
George A. Hanna Jr., 66, of Donora, died suddenly Saturday, January 12, 2013, in his home.
He was born May 10, 1946, in North Charleroi, a son of the late George A. Sr. and Eileen A. Hefford Hanna.
Mr. Hanna was retired from Ringgold School District, where he worked as a social studies teacher at Carroll Middle School for more than 35 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War.
Mr. Hanna was a lifelong member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Donora, where he served as treasurer, secretary and on the vestry board.
He was also very involved throughout his teaching career as a student council sponsor. He belonged to PSEA and NEA.
Mr. Hanna loved going on all the different trips with the kids. He loved to walk, he loved WWE and he loved to travel.
Surviving are two brothers, the Rev. Robert S. (Susan) Hanna of Carroll Township and David R. (Cindy) Hanna of Monessen; a nephew, Matthew Hanna; and a niece, Nicole Nemeth.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in James A. Rabe Funeral Home Inc., 701 Thompson Avenue, Donora. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013, in St. John’s Episcopal Church, Donora, with the Rev. Robert S. Hanna as celebrant. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
