Alvin L. Ashford
Alvin L. Ashford, 74, of Cecil, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013, in the Washington Hospital.
He was born September 20, 1938, a son of the late Lawrence and Grace Ashford.
Mr. Ashford worked for 29 years at McGraw-Edison/Cooper Industries until his retirement in 1994.
He enjoyed hunting and going to yard sales and flea markets, and he loved being with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Joan Ashford; two sons, Edward (Michele) Ashford of Bethel Park and Robert Ashford of Cecil; and a daughter, Rosemarie Bruno of Canonsburg. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Alisha Thompson of Canonsburg, Jessica Thompson of Cecil, Christine Yater of Cecil and Jenna Zeiler of Bethel Park; five great-grandchildren, Brayden Seaman, Dakota Yater, Kaylee and Jayden Pitcock and Bentley Thompson; two sisters, Jayne Bodnar of Canonsburg and Violet Crow of Canonsburg; and four nephews and a niece.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a daughter, who died in infancy, and a grandson, Edward Ashford Jr. in 2008.
At the request of the family, services will be private and entombment will be held at Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
