Ann M. Monkovich

Ann M. Monkovich, 85, of Richeyville, died Monday, January 14, 2013, in Mon Valley Hospital.

She was born May 24, 1927, in Daisytown, a daughter of the late Michael and Theresa Harenchar.

A homemaker who was dedicated to her faith, Mrs. Monkovich was a lifelong member of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church.

Mrs. Monkovich loved her family and pets and was a longtime contributor to the Washington Area Humane Society. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and baking and especially enjoyed summer evenings spent on her porch swing with her special friends, Irene Yancich and Irene Lutes.

On February 27, 1947, she married Paul Monkovich, who died September 22, 2006. She loved her husband dearly and missed him dearly until the end.

Surviving are a son, Steven Monkovich of Richeyville, and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are a brother, Steve Harenchar; and two sisters, Theresa Molish and Mary Nurminen.

Mrs. Monkovich was the last of her immediate family.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Richeyville, with the Rev. Edward Yuhas as celebrant. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Coal Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Washington Area Humane Society, P.O.
