Lois jean Thomas Phillips

Lois Jean Thomas Phillips, 83, of Mt. Morris, died at 9:16 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013, in Evergreen Personal Care Home, Waynesburg.

She was born Thursday, August 29, 1929, in Morgantown, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles Thomas and Mary Alverta Harvey Thomas. She spent her entire life in Mt. Morris.

Mrs. Phillips was a member of Mt. Morris United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.

Her husband, Gilbert Paul Phillips, whom she married November 28, 1947, died August 23, 2009.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, Ronald (Monna Sue) Phillips of Mt. Morris and Gilbert Paul”Butch”(Sheila) Phillips II of Mt. Morris; three grandsons, Jeffrey (Lori) Phillips, Zachery (Jennifer) Phillips and Kolbi Phillips, all of Mt. Morris; two great-grandsons, Levi and Chase Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the last of her immediate family.

Deceased are a son who died in infancy, Dennis Wayne Phillips; three sisters, Wilma Greathouse, Dorothy Henderson and Bernadine McCormick; and six brothers, Thurman Thomas, Virgil Thomas, Willis Thomas, Chester Thomas, Earl Thomas and Charles Thomas Jr.

Mrs. Phillips received care and compassion from staff in Evergreen Personal Care Home and Albert Gallatin Hospice.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 324 Mt. Morris Road, P.O. Box 478, Mt. Morris, PA 15349, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 19, with the Rev. Fred Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt.Morris.
