Raymond E. Spencer
Raymond E. Spencer, 82, of Finleyville, died Saturday, January 19, 2013, in his home.
He was born April 20, 1930, in Courtney, a son of Raymond S. and Cora Thomas Spencer.
Mr. Spencer was retired as a technician with DeLattre Corp. in Monongahela.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and life member and past commander of American Legion Post 613 in Finleyville.
Surviving are his wife, Muriel Sopko Spencer; a son, Raymond A. Spencer of Longview, Texas; two daughters, Linda Adams and husband Dennis of Douglassville and Debra Newman and husband Doug of Finleyville; a cousin, with whom he was raised, Norma Wardle of Finleyville; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Douglas and Deanna; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Leroy Spencer, and two sisters, Evelyn Warrington and Eileen Spencer.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Kegel Funeral Home Inc., Tim P. Kegel, supervisor, 3560 Washington Avenue, Finleyville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 24, in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Finleyville, with the Rev. Robert J. Boyle as celebrant. Interment will follow in Finleyville Cemetery, with full military honors accorded by Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad. American Legion Post 613 will conduct services at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
