Richard Donald Meny

Richard Donald Meny, 82, of Canonsburg, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 19, 2013, in Canonsburg General Hospital.

He was born August 16, 1930, in Strabane, a son of the late Joseph and Helen Mezek Meny.

Mr. Meny lived his entire life in Strabane and Canonsburg, where he attended South Canonsburg Church.

Prior to his retirement in 1978, he had been employed as a press operator at the former Continental Can Co. He had been employed at Service Master and was self-employed in cleaning for many years.

He loved being with his family and enjoyed the casino and his dog, Charlie Brown. Mr. Meny was well-known for his delicious cheesecakes.

On July 13, 1991, he married Danile Charles, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Randy (Shirley) Meny of Rochester; two daughters, Tami (Walter “Boo”) Cyprowski of Canonsburg and JoLynn (Donald) Pritts of Wolfdale; nine grandchildren, Jenna Lee Meny, Randy (Amanda) Meny, Jenna Smith, Chad Meny, Jonathan Cyprowski, Destiny (Nic) Morris, Dawn Marie (Keith) Wodusky, Michele Pritts and Danielle Pritts; a great-grandson, Seth Michael Wodusky; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the last of his immediate family.

Deceased are a brother, Joseph Meny, and a sister, Vida Kay.

Friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 24, with Pastor Steve Parkhill officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
