Robert W. Massey
Robert W. Massey of Eighty Four died Monday, January 21, 2013, in Canonsburg General Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born May 21, 1940, in Windsor, Canada, a son of the late Wilford and Nellie Stemmler Massey.
Mr. Massey had served with the Royal Canadian Air Force, had been an aircraft mechanic and was self-employed in various fields.
On May 30, 1981, in Michigan, he married Gay DeLestienne, who survives.
He was a social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 764 in McMurray and a life member of Royal Canadian Legion and Canonsburg Senior Citizens. He was a member of SWPAAA, having served on the sub-advisory committee, special activities committee and nutrition site review committee. He also served as a board member of Frank Sarris Library in Canonsburg.
Mr. Massey enjoyed gardening, candy-making, traveling and volunteering.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are five daughters, Neleen, Corinna, Sheena, Tammy and Eva; a son, James Massey; several grandchildren; stepchildren Veronica Susalla, Valerie (Mike) Seng and Ted (Anne) Sussalla; stepgrandchildren Matthew, Steven, Eric, Andrea, Michell, Greg and Amy; and stepgreat-grandchildren Alayna and Zoey.
Deceased is a sister, Jolly.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 25, with the Rev. Donald Austin officiating.
