Susan Kandes
Susan Kandes, 92, of Daisytown, died Sunday, January 20, 2013, in Uniontown Hospital.
She was born December 15, 1920, in Crescent Heights, a daughter of the late James and Susie Sarvas.
Mrs. Kandes enjoyed participating in various community activities in the Daisytown area. Spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren brought her much enjoyment.
On April 20, 1940, she married Martin Joseph “Rocky” Kandes, who passed away April 20, 1979, on their 39th wedding anniversary.
Surviving are a son, Martin James Kandes of Union City, Calif.; three grandchildren, Martin Charles, Andrew Michael and Kelly Elizabeth Kandes, all of San Diego, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are three brothers, James, Joseph and William Sarvas; and two sisters, Mary Baumgardner and Julie Sarvas.
Mrs. Kandes was the last of her immediate family.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville. Family and friends are asked to gather at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 26, in the Mausoleum/Chapel of LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, for a committal service with Pastor Randy Landman officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
