George R. Ducsay
George R. “Pappy” Ducsay, 73, of Canonsburg, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013, in his home, after battling an illness for more than two years.
He was born November 7, 1939, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Stephen and Cecelia Szalanski Ducsay.
On November 28, 1956, he married Alice Bell, who survives.
Mr. Ducsay was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and the former St. Genevieve Roman Catholic Church.
He was a pilot and enjoyed recreational flying. He was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman and hunter, a former Boy Scout leader and loved spending time with his family.
Mr. Ducsay served his country for more than 34 years in the Air Force, retiring as a master sergeant.
Prior to his retirement, he was a jet airplane mechanic for Pennsylvania Air National Guard.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, George J. Ducsay and wife Cindy of South Fayette and Robert F. Ducsay and Terri of Canonsburg; two daughters, Sharon Roach and husband George of McMurray and Jennifer Azoury and husband Paul of South Fayette; a brother, Herbert Ducsay and wife Doreen of Rennerdale; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Megan, Brittney, Paul and Alyssa; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a brother, Ronald Duscay.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director, where departing prayers will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 1, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Full military rites will be accorded by the combined honor guards of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 and American Legion Post 902.
