James A. Curdie
James A. Curdie, 90, of Finleyville, died Monday, January 28, 2013, in Sunrise Senior Living Center, Erie.
He was born May 5, 1922, in Finleyville, a son of John and Hannah Hurst Curdie.
Mr. Curdie was retired as a laborer at the former Shire Oaks yard of Conrail in Elrama.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 613 in Finleyville and the former Union Roads United Methodist Church in Gastonville.
Surviving are his wife, Lois Armstrong Curdie; two daughters, Robin Koskoski and husband Edward of Edinboro and Kebbie Staley and husband Kenneth Sr. of Heidelberg; four grandchildren, Kerry Gilbert (Greg), Erin Magorien (Joe), Josh and Kenny; four great-grandchildren, Emily Moore, Gavin, Preston and Nora Magorien; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are four brothers, John, George, William and Stanley Curdie; and five sisters, Jenny Kelly, Mary Alice Pelky, Bella Mae Corbin, Gladys Kelly and Nellie Curdie.
Friends were received Thursday in Kegel Funeral Home Inc., Tim P. Kegel, supervisor, 3560 Washington Avenue, Finleyville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 1, with the Rev. Ken Miller officiating. Internment will follow in Mingo Cemetery, Finleyville. American Legion Post 613 will conduct services at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
