Leona Jackson McCracken

Leona Jackson McCracken, 84, of Vanderbilt, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 3, 2013, in UMPC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh, surrounded by her loving family, from injuries received in an automobile accident with her husband the prior day.
She was born October 22, 1928, in Washington, a daughter of the late Thomas and Bessie Welch Jackson.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband of 65 years, Stoneroad S. McCracken; two brothers, John D. Humbert and William W. Jackson; and a sister, Ann J. McMonagle.
Mrs. McCracken was an active member of Abundant Life Church.
She was a 1946 graduate of Uniontown Area Senior High School and a retired secretary from the Pennsylvania State Agriculture Cooperative Extension.
Surviving are two sons, W. Thomas “Tom” McCracken and wife Virginia of Franklin Township and David McCracken and wife Kathie of Waynesville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Kristin Mortek and husband Sunny of Bowie, Md., Mark McCracken and wife Tammy of Franklin Township, Lisa Reynolds of Raleigh, N.C., and JoAnna Reynolds and husband Tom Deveans of Monterey, Calif.; four great-grandchildren, Noah and Summer Mortek and Madelyn and Finnian Deveans; a sister, Helen J. Jennings of Macon, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Marian Humbert of Morgantown, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 7, in Abundant Life Church, 1239 Brownfield Road, Uniontown, where a memorial service to honor her and her husband’s lives will follow at 4:30 p.m., with Pastor Nicholas Cook officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Bowman Flatwood Cemetery .
