Machinist enjoyed guns, shooting and music
Eugene Joseph Rafter, 65, of Washington, died Friday, July 5, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington, following a nine-month battle with cancer.
He was born June 26, 1948, in Butler, a son of the late John Rafter and Eleanor Bowser Rafter Jeffers.
Mr. Rafter was employed as a machinist at DACO Machine and Greenetech Machine for almost 30 years.
He was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Washington.
Mr. Rafter was a member of Canonsburg Sportsman Association. He enjoyed guns, shooting and music.
On December 16, 1967, he married Sharon Burk, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Eugene (Denise) Rafter II of Claysville; two daughters, Stacie Lee (Brian) of Burgettstown and Karin King of Raleigh, N.C.; four grandchildren, Jesse Dague, Shannen Dague, Jacob Noble and Amanda King; and a great-grandchild, Zeno Eugene Mack Abbas.
Deceased is a brother, John Curtis Rafter.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 8. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Leukemia Foundation, River Walk Corporate Centre, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
