Served in Navy during WWII

Stanley Joseph Duskey, 92, of Washington, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in Washington Hospital.

He was born August 30, 1920, in Washington, a son of John J. Duskey and Mildred Staniszewski.

Mr. Duskey was a 1939 graduate of Trinity High School.

During World War II, he served more than three years in the U.S. Navy as a gunner aboard the battleship U.S.S. California in the South Pacific, earning seven medals and ribbons, which resulted in circling the globe and returning to the Philadelphia Naval yard.

He was employed by Borden Ice Cream for more than 26 years, after which he became a partner in Wemack Insurance Co., retiring after 10 years in the insurance business.

Mr. Duskey was a life member of Holy Trinity National Catholic Church, having served as church chairman and was a Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Sunset Lodge F&AM 623, Scottish Rite Valley of Pittsburgh, Syria Temple and was past president of Washington-Greene Caravan 2.

On March 19, 1945, he married Stella Lyseck, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Dennis (Chris) Duskey of Monroeville; a brother, John Duskey of Washington; and a grandchild, Michelle Duskey.

Deceased is a sister, Josephine Turczynski.
