Active St. Marcellus Church member put family first

Sophie Aliucci, 91, of Jefferson, died Monday, July 15, 2013, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg.

She was born May 12, 1922, in Mather, a daughter of the late Andrew and Blanche Kravitz Nasiatka.

Mrs. Aliucci was a homemaker and had formerly worked in Greene County Memorial Hospital, in patient services.

During World War II, she was one of the famous Rosie the Riveters in the Cleveland, Ohio, area.

Mrs. Aliucci was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who always put her family first. Many will remember her kindness and generosity.

Her love extended to her goddaughter, Faye Price. She and Faye were best friends, doing everything together. Faye was her companion and friend through the good times and especially toward the end of Mrs. Aliucci’s life.

Church was a very important part of her life. She was a member of St. Marcellus Roman Catholic Church, Jefferson, Christian Mothers of the church and was very active in church activities.

She also was a member of the Toastmasters Club.

In 1946, she married James Aliucci, who is deceased.

Surviving are a son and his wife, James Aliucci and Betty of Charles Town, W.Va.; a goddaughter, Faye Price; two grandchildren, James Aliucci Jr. of Charles Town and John Aliucci of Frederick, Md.; two brothers, Thomas Nasiatka of Gainesville, Va., and Carl Nasiatka of Twinsburg, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are three brothers, Stanley Nasiatka, Ed Nasiatka and John Nasiatka; and two sisters, Julie Novack and Frances Kovach.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where a blessing service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 18, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Marcellus Roman Catholic Church, Jefferson, with Father J. Francis Frazer as celebrant. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township. Condolences may be expressed at www.behm-funeralhomes.com.
