Arnold Lee McComis, 96, of Amwell Township, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.
He was born April 11, 1917, in Ashland, Ky., a son of John and Artie Frances Hale McComis.
A World War II Army veteran, he worked as a concrete finisher for 20 years.
Mr. McComis loved animals and was owner/operator of Arnold’s Dog Grooming and Whispering Pines Kennel.
On June 17, 1939, he married Florence Oelgoetz, who died September 15, 1997.
Surviving are a son, Arnold McComis Jr. of Holiday, Fla.; two daughters, Arlene Konopka of Lone Pine and Charlene Bentley of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, Hughey, Bruce, Luther and James, and three sisters, Suzy, Ruth and Willie Ann.
Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Monday, July 22, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
