McMurray woman loved spending time with family
Denise Anne Johnston-Simmons, 61, of McMurray, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 21, 2013, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born October 12, 1951, in Washington, she was a daughter of Paul Robert Johnston and Betty Reid.
She is survived by her parents, Bob (Gina) Johnston of Southpointe and Betty (Elmer Wunderlich) Reid of Eighty Four; husband Delmer Simmons of McMurray; daughter Alexa Dawn Simmons, at home; stepson Mason Simmons of McMurray; stepdaughter Kathryn (Jason) Appleton of Brownsville; a sister, Joyce Johnston-Mayernik; and two brother-in-laws, Linus Mayernik and Kenny Fischer, and sister-in-law Cheryl Johnston, all of Washington. She is also survived by five grandchildren and four nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her stepson, Timothy Simmons; sister Dawn Fischer; brother Vaughn Johnston; and nephew Ryan Johnston.
She was the co-owner/president of her family business. She was a proud graduate of Duquesne University School of Nursing and brought her caring heart home in raising her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family and decorating her home and property. She will be dearly missed and loved by all who knew her.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Cremation & Funeral Care by Danielle Andy Belusko, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-260-5546. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, in the funeral home, with Pastor Craig Bellis officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
