Daniel M. Martin Jr., 79, of Washington, died Monday, July 22, 2013, in Washington Hospital.
He was born September 12, 1933, in Washington, a son of Daniel Marlin Martin Sr. and Emma Elizabeth Cummins Martin.
A 1954 graduate of Washington High School, he worked as a pressman for the Washington Post for 11 years after training at the Observer-Reporter.
For more than 50 years, he was a member of Washington Lodge 164 F&AM, where he was past master. In addition, he was a member of Washington Chapter 150, where he was a past high priest, council 1, where he was most excellent and select master mason, Tall Cedars of Lebanon 149; Jacques DeMolay Chapter 3; Pittsburgh Consistory; Syria Temple Shrine; Heritage Unit Syria Temple (Clowns) and Washington-Greene Caravan 2.
Mr. Martin was a member of First United Methodist Church.
On December 7, 1957, he married Sara Elizabeth McDonald, who died September 23, 1976.
On August 5, 1977, he married Patricia Louise Rafter, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael (Christina) Natoli of Afton, Va., and John (Patricia) Wingate of San Antonio, Texas; three daughters, Beverly (Jacob) Colley of Bridgeville, Diane (Robert) Jones of Wichita, Kan., and Terri (Daniel) Kinley of Hampton, Va.; a brother, James Martin of Spokane, Wash.; four sisters, Margaret Reynolds of Marietta, Calif., Beulah Brownlee of Washington, Eileen Scott of Sunderland, Mass., and Arleen Berry of Washington; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, with the Rev. Keith Simmons and the Rev. David Kinsley officiating.
