Loren R. Holmes

Loren R. Holmes, 72, of Venetia, died Monday, July 22, 2013, in his home.
He was born July 7, 1941, in Louisville, Ky., a son of William and Margaret Allen Holmes.
Mr. Holmes was the president and co-owner of Burrell Scientific Inc. in Pittsburgh.
He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Finleyville and the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh.
Surviving are his wife, Irene School Holmes; three sons, Loren A. Holmes of Finleyville, Aaron C. Holmes and wife Christy of Venetia and Mark R. Holmes of Wilmington, N.C.; a brother, Raymond Holmes (Leslie) of Bethel Park; three sisters, Lucia Pfiel of Bethel Park, Nancy Meisinger (Jim) of Huntingtown, Md., and Sally Gran (Charles) of Charles Town, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Spencer, Mason and Cameron; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Kegel Funeral Home Inc., Tim P. Kegel, supervisor, 3560 Washington Avenue, Finleyville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 27, in St. Francis Church, Finleyville, with the Rev. Richard Tusky, as celebrant. Private interment will be held in Finleyville Cemetery.
