Proud steelworker, avid deer hunter

Mark Lawrence Rozmus, 53, of Burgettstown, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 24, 2013, in his home.

He was born September 14, 1959, in Washington, a son of Joseph and Ina Foulk Rozmus of Burgettstown.

Mr. Rozmus was a 1977 graduate of Burgettstown High School, went on to trade school and later graduated from Pennsylvania Police Academy.

He was employed by Union Electric in Burgettstown for nearly 25 years and was most proud of being a steelworker. He was a former police officer for Smith Township, a past lieutenant of Burgettstown Volunteer Fire Department, an emergency medical technician and original member of Northwest Ambulance Service. Mr. Rozmus was a member of Burgettstown Presbyterian Church.

He was an avid deer hunter and loved spending time with family and his dog, Princess.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Matt Rozmus of Burgettstown; two nephews, Zackery and Jacob Rozmus, both of Burgettstown; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday in Taucher Funeral Home, 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, where services will be held at noon Monday, July 29, with the Rev. Dan Ekas officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Florence.
