Army veteran active in MADD

Robert Charles Meyer, 86, of Ocala, Fla., passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013, in Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala, with his family by his side.

He was born March 6, 1927, in New Kensington, a son of the late William L. and Eveline Moorhead Meyer.

Mr. Meyer was a 1946 graduate of Arnold High School.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during both World War II and Korea, with honor.

Mr. Meyer was a life member of MADD and was instrumental in passing new laws and counseling grieving members. He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, life member of Arnold Volunteer Engine Company 2, where he served as captain and assistant chief, and was a charter member of Arnold Fire Department.

He was owner of Tasty Treat and Montour 9 Mobile Home Sales and Park in McDonald.

Deceased is a son, Robert C. Meyer Jr.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Ruth Lauff Meyer, son James C. Meyer and granddaughters Jamie Meyer and Kelly Meyer, all of Ocala; and brother William L. Meyer and wife Geraldine of Lower Burrell.

Viewing will be at the Meyer residence. Interment will be in Miami, Fla.
