James Jackson King
Postal Service retiree, Navy vet was woodworker
James Jackson King, 76, of Washington, died Sunday, July 28, 2013, in Washington Hospital.
He was born September 20, 1936, in Washington, a son of William E. King and Mary Wolfe King, who are deceased.
Mr. King was a 1954 graduate of Washington High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. King was employed as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church and was on many church committees.
Mr. King was an avid woodworker and bowler.
On January 22, 1959, he married Nancy Keenan, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Jeffrey A. (Cathy) King of Loretto; a daughter, Stacy (Patrick) Rush of Avella; a brother, Harold E. King of Washington; two sisters, Shirley A. Gradert and Linda L. Crouser, both of Washington; and four grandchildren, Shannon and Daniel King and Michael and Emily Rush.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, August 3, in First Baptist Church, 101 College Street, Washington, with Pastor Steve Dunlap officiating. Please meet at the church. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church.
