C. Geraldine Gumbert, 96, of Washington, formerly of Ellsworth, died Monday, June 3, 2013, in her home.
She was born July 28, 1916, in Cokeburg, a daughter of the late Sylvester and Lucinda Anthony Crosby Skiles.
Mrs. Gumbert was a 1934 graduate of Ellsworth High School.
She was a longtime member of Ellsworth Presbyterian Church, where she served as organist and was a member of Daughters of Ruth and Helping Hands.
Mrs. Gumbert was a former vice president and secretary of Bentworth Senior Citizens.
She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, working crossword puzzles, reading and spending time with her family.
Her husband, George C. Gumbert Sr., died in 1991.
Surviving are a son, George C. Gumbert Jr. (Laela) of Washington; a daughter, Elizabeth “Betty” Hrutkay (Edward C.) of Daisytown; five grandchildren, Denise Trescott, Lisa Hrutkay-Fledderus, Chris Gumbert, Lynne King and Kim Lehman; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother-in-law, Ralph E. Gumbert (Patricia) of Levittown; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are two brothers, Clarence Crosby and Clayton Skiles, and six sisters, Jesse Crosby-Frost, Marie McKrittrick, Evelyn Johnson, Elizabeth Mitts, Caroline McBurnie and Clara Della Kotchman.
Mrs. Gumbert was the last of her immediate family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, with the Rev. Edward Yuhas officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
