Betty Fordyce Hixon, 91, of Atchison, Kan., died Thursday, June 6, 2013, in Atchison Medicalodge.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 10, in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Atchison, with the Rev. Dina Dutta officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Effingham, Kan. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 9, in Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison.

She was born August 23, 1921, in Graysville, a daughter of Denny and Martha Ferrell Fordyce.
Mrs. Hixon was a graduate of Wind Ridge High School and Waynesburg Business College.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Ft. Leavenworth and Meyers-Nuzum-Stecher Accounting Firm in Atchison.
Mrs. Hixon was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Atchison, Order of the Eastern Star, Martha Washington Chapter Lodge 215 in Atchison, Daughters of the American Revolution, National Society of the Magna Charta Dames and Order of Charlemagne.
She enjoyed sewing, bird-watching, genealogy and especially her grandchildren.
On November 24, 1947, she was married John L. “Les” Hixon in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, who died February 3, 1997.
Surviving are a son, John (Lynn) Hixon of Atchison; three daughters, Deborah J. Hixon of Kansas City, Mo., Liz (Joe) Bogovich of Silver Spring, Md., and Pam Blair of Atchison; a brother, Denny Fordyce Jr. Massillon, Ohio; two grandchildren, Clinton (Brandi) Coyle of Kansas City, Kan., and Katie (Chad) Bilderback of Atchison; and three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Jack and Blair Bilderback of Atchison.
Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, is a sister, Sara Lee Johnson.
