Former RN enjoyed swimming

Ruth L. Tyrrell, 88, passed away at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington.

She was born July 1, 1924, in Pond Eddy, N.Y., a daughter of the late Lewis and Leanore Edwards.

Mrs. Tyrrell was a 1941 graduate of Eldred High School and a graduate of the Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y.

She was employed as a registered nurse at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albany, N.Y., for many years.

Mrs. Tyrrell was a member of McKownville United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed swimming, horses and playing the piano.

Mrs. Tyrrell moved to McMurray in 2007.

She married F. Bray Tyrrell, who passed away October 26, 1993.

Surviving are a son, Martin Tyrrell of McMurray; a brother, Richard (Pauline) Edwards of Chicago, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, is a son, James Tyrrell.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday in New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, N.Y. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Chateaugay, N.Y.
