Zelda Mae Sweger

Trinity H.S. grad loved to travel

Zelda Mae Sweger passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 21, 2013, in Willow Glen, Calif., at the age of 87.

She was born June 9, 1925, in Washington, a daughter of the late Ross and Jeanette Watson.

Mrs. Sweger was a graduate of Trinity High School.

After high school, she worked for the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover in Washington, D.C., from 1944 to 1945.

She married William J. Sweger of Washington in 1946. They moved to California in 1966, but returned to Washington in 1970 for two more years, until making Sunnyvale, Calif., their permanent home in 1972.

Mrs. Sweger retired from Mervyn’s in 1987 and volunteered for many years at Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church.

She loved to travel and spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Her husband, William, passed away March 30, 1989.

Surviving are five children, Karen Lanning, Howard Sweger, Deborah Ter Keurst, Cheryl Volesky and Alan Sweger; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Sweger wished to be cremated and her ashes taken back to Washington to be placed in her family’s gravesite. A gravesite service will be held at Washington Cemetery at a later date with family members. Remembrances may be made in her name to hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
