Mary Joanne Williams, 74, of Washington, died Friday, June 7, 2012, after a short battle with recurrent breast cancer.

She was born November 26, 1938, in Washington, a daughter of John and Myrtle Neal McDowell, who are deceased.

Mrs. Williams was employed at Canonsburg General Hospital as a secretary in the radiology department for more than 30 years. She later became a home health care aide to various elderly individuals.

She was a very active member of Fourth Presbyterian Church, where she served as elder and on many committees. She was an avid shopper, enjoyed playing cards on Fridays with her friends and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters, Cathleen (Ken) Seybert of Washington and Gretchen (Ron) McNary of Peters Township; a brother John H. (Barra) McDowell III of Pittsburgh; and five grandchildren, Amanda (Tim) Kruger, Keil (Felicia) Seybert and Soren, Sloane and Freya McNary.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 1 to 3 p.m., the time of service, Tuesday, June 11, with the Rev. Robert Miller officiating in William G.
