William Falappi

William “Bill” Falappi, 80, of Monongahela, died Friday, June 14, 2013, in his home.He was born July 5, 1932, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Faustino “Pete” and Pierina Belleri Falappi.
Mr. Falappi graduated in 1950 from Monongahela High School.
He was employed at Irwin Works in Dravosburg, Combustion Engineering in East Monongahela, Ragnar-Benson Construction in Avella and Allegheny Airlines (which later became USAir) in West Mifflin. He retired after a 35-year career as an instrument mechanic for USAir at the Greater Pittsburgh Airport.
Mr. Falappi was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish, Transfiguration Church, in Monongahela. He enjoyed traveling with his friends from USAir. His travels took him to at least 20 states and Canada. He belonged to Charleroi Fishing Club and Rotolo’s golf league at Chippewa. He enjoyed Friday night golfing at Rolling Green and in the winter played on Rotolo’s bowling league at Belle Vernon Lanes.
On November 24, 1956, he married Joan Aglio of Charleroi, and was happily married for 57 years.
Surviving are two sons, William “Will” Falappi and wife Cheryl of Monongahela and Mark Alan Falappi and wife Dana of Venetia; grandchildren Stephanie Cook and Marci and Michael “Mickey” Falappi; nephews and nieces Richard Grandy and wife Rita, Donna Pieraccioli Sivie and husband Terry and children Neal, Nicole and Todd, Don Falappi and wife Barbara Jean and children Natalie and Dana, Janice Falappi, Tamira Jankowski and husband Blair and children Tamira, Christina, Lisa and B.J., Michele Falbo and husband Scott and daughter Bailey; and several great-great-nephews and nieces.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Ada Falappi, and a sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Geno Pieraccioli.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Damien of Molokai Parish, Transfiguration Church, with Rev. William Terza, as celebrant. Committal services and interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
