John Lawrence Kopenshek
Longtime BNY Mellon facilities manager
John Lawrence Kopenshek, 66, of Canonsburg, died Friday, June 14, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington, following a three-year battle with cancer.
He was born January 29, 1947, in Washington, a son of the late John Joseph and Mary Lawrence Kopenshek.
A 1965 graduate of Trinity High School, he was also a graduate of Robert Morris University.
Mr. Kopenshek worked as a facilities manager for BNY Mellon from 1965 until 2007.
He had served in the U.S. Army Reserves in the 630th Transportation Division.
On September 18, 1971, he married Caroline Kurek, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Bryan Lawrence Kopenshek of North Strabane Township; a sister, Carol (Robert) Brosnahan of South Strabane Township; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a sister, Janet Weeks.
At the request of the deceased, there was no public visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Washington. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
