Retired truck driver, supervisor
John W. “Fritzi” Fryer, 81, of Enon Valley, died Saturday, June 29, 2013, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born September 18, 1931, in Cross Creek, a son of the late William F. and Margaret Melvin Fryer.
Mr. Fryer was a truck driver for 25 years, having worked for Dutch Blum Trucking in Darlington and worked for Koppers Co. for 25 years and was a supervisor at his time of retirement.
His interests included working on cars, mowing the grass and reading.
Mr. Fryer was an active member of LIFE Lawrence County.
Surviving are five children, two daughters-in-law and two sons-in-law, Chess Fryer of Beaver Falls, Gary Fryer and wife Lisa of Enon Valley, daughter-in-law Sue Cupp Fryer of Columbiana, Ohio, Melanie Stanyard and husband Terry of Enon Valley, Barbara Rowe and husband Bert of Darlington and Susan Fryer of Enon Valley; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and another on the way; a sister and brother-in-law, Bertie Lou and Owen Long of Broad Top; a dear friend who he considered a daughter, Sue Fadse of Follansbee, W.Va.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
LIFE Lawrence County and Jameson Hospice had cared for him.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Shirley “Popcorn” Caldwell Fryer, and a son, Randy Fryer.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Campbells Chippewa Funeral Home, 2618 Darlington Road, Beaver Falls, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, with the Rev. Dave Sutton of Bible Presbyterian Church and the Rev. Duane Herron of Enon Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Little Beaver Cemetery, Enon Valley.
