Lawrence M. Vernon Jr.
Lawrence M. Vernon Jr., 81, of Greensboro, died Friday, March 1, 2013, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
He was born March 21, 1931, in Delhi, N.Y., a son of the late Evelyn Wilson and Lawrence “Shorty” Vernon Sr.
A U.S Army veteran of the Korean conflict, he attended the former Faith Church of the Nazarene and was an autobody repairman at Simms Auto Repair in Greensboro for more than 38 years.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Letha Areford Vernon, whom he married Jauary 22, 1955; 10 children, James Lawrence Vernon, Nicholas Vernon, Debra Lee Jones, Leona “Onie” Stallard, Laura Phillips, Gale Hunnell, Jeannette Borsodi, Tracy Ann Daniels, Denise Vernon and Wendy Vernon and their families; and a brother, Orval Vernon of Ohio.
Deceased is a brother, Shirl Vernon.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, Tuesday, March 5, with the Rev. Scott Teets officiating, in Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion.
