Joseph Donald Comfort, 76, husband of Barbara Comfort, died Friday, March 1, 2013.

A native of Washington, he was a son of the late Joseph and Laura Staniford Comfort.

Mr. Comfort retired from Jenmar Corp. and attended First Presbyterian Church of Athens, Ga.

He attended the University of Georgia and played three seasons of football, 1955 to 1957, for the university.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his children, Michael Comfort of Dallas, Ga., and Eric Comfort of Roswell, Ga.; brother Anthony Comfort of Washington; and two granddaughters, Caitlin and Cameron Comfort.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9, in First Presbyterian Church of Athens, with Dr. W. Glenn Doak officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Athens or the American Cancer Society.
