Joseph Emery Palla
Joseph Emery Palla, 72, of Ellsworth, died Monday, March 4, 2013, in Mon Valley Hospital.
Mr. Palla was born December 18, 1940, in Ellsworth, a son of Imrich and Anna Kvartek Palla, deceased immigrants from Smilno, Slovakia.
He was a graduate of Ellsworth High School and received a diploma from Penn Commercial and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Palla was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served four years in the military.
He was a member of Ave Maria Parish, Bentleyville.
Mr. Palla retired from Super Foods Services, Bellefontaine, Ohio.
Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Lee Palla of Ellsworth; a sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Stan Snodgrass of Ruffsdale; three nephews, Ed and Jon Paul Palla of Ellsworth and Ryan Palla of Jefferson Hills; and a great-niece, Carly Anne Palla.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Leonard M. Pavlic Funeral Homes Inc., 405 Main Street, Bentleyville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, March 8, in Ave Maria Parish Church, Bentleyville, with the Rev. Edward Yuhas, pastor, as celebrant. Full military honors will be accorded by the South Hills Honor Guard 4666 and U.S. Air Force. Entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township.
