Derrick B. Stubrich

Derrick B. Stubrich, 29, of Jefferson, formerly of Kittanning, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, as a result of an automobile accident.

He was born July 22, 1983, in Kittanning, a son of the late Dennis W. and Shirley Farster Stubrich.

Mr. Stubrich had attended Elderton High School and was a 2002 graduate of Lenape Vo-Tech.

He was employed as a coalminer for Consol Energy-BMX Mine and was proud of his job.

Since his childhood years, he was a member of 4-H, where he showed pigs and did variety projects. Later, he gamed horses at Circle D Saddle Club and the Dayton Fair. His passion for 4-H led him to volunteer as a camp counselor and he attended all of the team leader retreats and camps. He had the honor to attend State Capital Days and the Buckeye Event in Ohio.

Mr. Stubrich met the love of his life, Ashlie, through his involvement in 4-H. He enjoyed working on cars by restoring engines and bodywork. He was an avid outdoorsman who liked to hunt and attend gun bashes and gun shoots. His greatest joy came from spending time with his kids, his wife, Ashlie, and his dog, Bentley.

He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, son and brother who will truly be missed.

His memory will be cherished by his wife, Ashlie Crofutt Stubrich, whom he married July 14, 2007; his parents, Dennis and Shirley Stubrich; a daughter, Elizabeth Jane Marie Stubrich; a son, Ethan Bradley Stubrich; a brother, Denten Stubrich; a sister, Corissa Stubrich and fiancé Jake Roup of Kittanning; paternal grandfather Ralph Stubrich; maternal grandparents Harold F. and Lois Jane (Anderson) Farster; father-in-law Richard Crofutt of Apollo; and mother-in-law Jean Crofutt and Greg Troutman of Ford City.

Deceased are infant brother Denver Stubrich and paternal grandmother Bette (Meglich) Stubrich.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and noon to 1 p.m., the time of service, Friday, March 15, in Bauer Funeral Home Inc., Clark Chapel, 238 South Main Street, Elderton. Contributions may be made in his honor to Armstrong County 4-H, Penn State Extension, 124 Armsdale Road, Suite 112, Kittanning, PA 16201.
