Kathrine L. Bowman

Kathrine L. Bowman, 84, of West Finley, died at 10:42 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in her home, surrounded by her family, after being seriously ill for the past several years.

She was born June 14, 1928, in Majorsville, W.Va., a daughter of the late Fogle F. and Beulah Bertha Mae Whiteman Milliken.

Mrs. Bowman resided in the West Finley area most of her life.

She was a member of First Christian Church in West Alexander and attended Cameron (W.Va.) High School.

Mrs. Bowman was a 20-year member of West Finley Volunteer Fire Company and was on the board of directors. She also was a member of the Ways and Means Committee, where she served as the cook.

She and her husband co-owned and operated the former Burnsville Store from 1975 until 1980.

Mrs. Bowman enjoyed puzzles, playing bingo, horse shoes, bowling and practicing reflexology.

On March 29, 1952, she married Furman Earl Bowman, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Martha L., wife of William Beverlin of Dallas, W.Va., and Cathy J., wife of Stephen Emery of West Finley; four grandchildren, Stephen and Robert Emery, William Beverlin and Kathrine Bartsch; four great-grandchildren, Jo Jo and William Beverlin II and Robert and Alexis Emery; three sisters, Virginia Morgan and Ellen Leoni of Follansbee, W.Va., and May, wife of Mae Lohr of West Finley; and a brother, Glenn, husband of Joanne Milliken of Dallas.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are a sister, Irma J. Vorhes, and a brother, Robert Milliken.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, with Pastor Cindy Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery, Dallas. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Hospice Care of Washington, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301, or West Finley Volunteer Fire Company, 908 Majorsville Road, West Finley, PA 15377.
