John J. Storrick
John J. Storrick, 87, of Elkins, W.Va., formerly of Washington, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in Teays Valley Assisted Living, Hurricane, W.Va.
He was born January 1, 1926, in Washington, a son of the late John and Katherine Grimes Storrick.
Mr. Storrick was a 1942 graduate of Washington High School, 1949 graduate of Washington & Jefferson College and a 1951 graduate of Carnegie Tech.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Mr. Storrick was an engineer for Duquesne Light, retiring in 1989.
He was a devoted family man and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed cars.
Mr. Storrick was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Washington and a member of the Syria Shrine.
On October 8, 1949, he married Shirley Wharton, who died February 28, 2007.
Surviving are a son, John Jay (Christina) Storrick of Elkins, W.Va.; two daughters, Lynn Ann Storrick (Harold) Campbell of Hurricane and Susan Storrick (Michael) Timko of Canonsburg; a brother, Bill (Judy) Storrick of Coon Rapids, Minn.; eight grandchildren, John and Karl Kuebler, Heidi (Colin) McFadden, Sam, Ben and Gabe Storrick and Maddie and Libby Timko; two great-granddaughters, Molly and Jane McFadden; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Riffle Wharton.
Deceased are three brothers, Roy, Jim and Dick Storrick, and a sister, MaryJane Volkenant.
Friends will be received from noon to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 18, with Pastor Steve Dunlap officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of American Legion.
