Gloria Jean Moore
Gloria Jean Moore, 74, of Houston, formerly of Avella, passed away peacefully Friday, March 15, 2013, in her daughter’s home.
She was the beloved wife of the late Clarence “Hump” Moore; loving mother of Richard (Tammy) Moore, Darleta (Jeffrey) Cole, Fred (Dawn) Moore and the late Anita “Gator” Moore and April Chris Moore (infant); grandmother of Teela and Jolene (Johnathan) Stokes, Richard and Freddie (Tracey) Moore, P. Sean (Joey), Brandon, Dusty (Alana) and Amanda Clayton and Mark Cole; great-grandmother of Kody, Tatum, Gage and Grant Clayton, Isaiah and Silas Stokes, Ralphie and Trent Bush and Ashlyn Moore; loving daughter of the late Joseph and Evelyn Moore; and sister of Robert L. (Jane) Moore, Beverly J.Moore and Jonquil M. McConnell.
Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Moore graduated in 1956 from East Washington High School. She went on to marry her late husband, Clarence “Hump,” September 24, 1958.
She started her career with mentally challenged individuals in 1966 with PARC and continued on to Western Center for 17 years. In 1985, she moved to Texas and started with Educare and opened their third group home, where she also served as house manager and consultant to train house managers. In 1991, she opened Texas Special Homes, where she was residential director, and her responsibilities included buying homes, training and staffing for 30 homes. She retired in 1999 and moved back to Pennsylvania, where she resided in Houston.
Friends are welcome from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Beinhauer-Bogan Funeral Home, 164 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-5810, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 21. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions be made to Beinhauer-Bogan Funeral Home.
