Thelma Curtis

Thelma “Ariel” Curtis passed away peacefully February 25, 2013, of natural causes.

She was born December 29, 1926, in Morgantown, W.Va., a daughter of Leland and Arbutus Erskine.

Mrs. Curtis was a gracious Christian woman who loved the Lord Jesus and wrote many beautiful spiritual poems. She enjoyed music and learned to play the organ at 80 years old.

She worked as an accountant with her husband in their family business, Curtis Auto Parts, in Carmichaels, many years ago.

Mrs. Curtis retired from her last employment at Christian Center Church in Belle Vernon, as its financial secretary in 2005. She moved to Sun City, Ariz., with her son, David, in 2006 and joined Church on the Green Assembly of God in Sun City West.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Curtis in 1964; a son, Robert Curtis in 2010; and a grandson, Christopher in 2005.

Surviving are a son, Daniel L. (Nette) Curtis of North Little Rock, Ark., with six children, 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a son, David R. (Kathy) Curtis of Sun City, with seven children and 18 grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Kay Curtis of Ottawa, Kan., with two children and three grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Betty (Richard) Kennedy of Seffner, Fla., with two children; Vickie McCoy of Carmichaels with two children and a grandchild; and Carrie Asushak of Ventura, Calif.; and a cousin, Jane (Tom) McMahon of Gibsonia.

A private memorial service will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date.
