Donald E. McWreath Jr.
Donald E. McWreath Jr., 69, of Washington, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013.
He was born January 6, 1944, in Washington, a son of Jean Guthrie McWreath of Washington and the late Donald E. McWreath Sr.
Mr. McWreath was a 1962 graduate of Trinity High School and went on to work for Christman Air, as well as McWreath Dairy. He then owned and operated Donald McWreath Roofing.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 22, Alpine Club, Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion and Keystone Club.
Mr. McWreath coached youth baseball and softball for many years and followed football, softball, basketball and wrestling as his children grew.
On February 16, 1985, he married Roxanne Veltri, who survives.
Also surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are three sons, Scott (Debbie) McWreath and Donald Edward McWreath III, both of Washington, and Ryan Patrick McWreath of Washington; two daughters, Beth Shrum of Virginia Beach, Va., and Chelsea A. McWreath of Washington; a brother, Sheridan (Kim) McWreath of Meadow Lands; two sisters, Sharen Humphreys of Marion, Ohio, and Janet (Jim) Perry of Brookline; six grandchildren, Bryan, Kyle, Evan, Donald IV, Aiden and Chase; two stepgrandchildren, Kyle and Malea; his first wife, Sylvia Phillips of Canonsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth N. Schott officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
