Marie M. Opatt
Marie M. “TT” Opatt, 87, of Washington, died Sunday, March 17, 2013, in Southminster Place, Washington, after a brief illness.
She was born November 19, 1925, in Hazelton, a daughter of the late Lewis and Mary Petruce Maracani.
Mrs. Opatt was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Meadow Lands and was very active in her church. She volunteered at many activities, one of them being bingo. She was a member of Christian Mothers of the church and was a member of Washington Hospital Auxiliary.
She was a graduate of Hazelton High School and was employed for more than 30 years for Bell Telephone in Pittsburgh, retiring in 1984.
Mrs. Opatt and husband James enjoyed caring for their great-nieces and great-nephew, Tricia, Jacob and Michelle. They never missed a ballgame, concert or play. Their constant love and support were ever present and they will be deeply missed.
On August 20, 1960, she married James W. Opatt, who died March 1, 2003.
Surviving are a sister, Hilda Maracani of Philadelphia; a niece, Cheryl Bunner of Washington; a nephew, Barry Colussi of Washington; two great-nieces, Tricia (Chris) Bryker of Washington and Michelle Bunner of Washington; a great-nephew, Jacob Bunner of Los Angeles, Calif.; a great-great-niece, Avery Mary Bryker; and several other nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces.
Deceased are two brothers, Lewis Maracani and John Maracani, who died in infancy; and sisters Helen Fellin, Frances Ambrose, Catherine Maracani, Martha Ambrose, Doris Colussi and Rita Maracani, who died in childhood.
Friends will be received from 6 until 9 p.m. Thursday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. Christian Mothers of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church will recite the rosary at 7 p.m. in the funeral home Thursday night. A prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Meadow Lands, with Father Carmen D’Amico as celebrant.
