Irene Saunders Taylder
Irene Saunders Taylder, beloved wife and mother, died Thursday, March 21, 2013, in her home.
She was born October 31, 1923, in South Shields, England, a daughter of the late John Thomas and Lillian Anscomb Saunders.
During World War II, she worked in a munitions factory making howitzers in Stanley, England.
Mrs. Taylder was devoted to her church, Clarksville Christian Church, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher for the adult class, a deaconess and a board member. She was elected deaconess emeritus by the church board in 1993.
On December 27, 1947, she married George Taylder, in Stanley, England. The two of them immigrated to Clarksville in December 1949 and lived in Braden Plan, until her husband’s death in 2002, when she moved to Hickory.
Surviving are two daughters, Doris Grimm and husband Larry of Hickory and Janis Komula and husband Mark of Somerset; four grandsons, Thomas (Kristen) Grimm of Mt. Lebanon, Matthew (Allisha) Grimm of Rustburg, Va., Leonard (Megan) Komula of Somerset and Andrew Komula of Somerset; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Cary and Elly Komula; a sister, Muriel Vance of Front Royal, Va.; a brother, David Saunders of Mather; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her stepmother, Jane Bell Saunders, and a brother, Gilbert Saunders.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 25, with the Rev. Stephen Smythers officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township.
