Gerhard H. Roberts

Gerhard H. Roberts, 98, of Washington, formerly of Strafford, Vt., died Saturday, March 23, 2013, in his home.

He was born May 21, 1914, in Berlin, Germany, a son of Carl Roberts and Gertrude Halle.

Mr. Roberts was a graduate of Columbia University School of General Studies and received his master’s and doctorate in education from the Teachers College of Columbia University.

He was a mathematics educator and administrator for the Brentwood and Herricks school districts in Long Island, N.Y., for many years.

Mr. Roberts served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

On August 8, 1942, in Havre de Grace, Md., he married Ingeborg F. Sussmann. Mrs. Roberts died January 15, 2010.

Surviving are two daughters, Evelyn B. Roberts of Eastchester, N.Y., and Marilyn (Kenneth Mason) Roberts of Washington, and a grandson, Alexander R. Mason.

Deceased are a son, Michael H. Roberts, and a sister, Hilda Roberts.

There will be no services for Mr. Roberts. Interment will take place this summer in Strafford. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Upper Valley Land Trust at www.uvlt.org.
